Everyone knows that China's trade surpluses are soaring. What is less evident is that the underlying dynamic of trade is increasingly being driven by diversification of trade to developing countries. Even more significant is the evidence that China is successfully moving up the supply chain, substituting home produced components for component imports from Korea and Taiwan.
