Overview

In November 2008 our trusted source, a grains economist at the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, argued that last year’s collapse in agricultural commodity prices set the stage for grain supply shortages because farmers would reduce plantings due to continued high input prices and difficulty accessing credit. However, production has not been affected as much as anticipated and stocks remain robust.
