Overview

China and India are potential time bombs for global food security. With large and mostly poor populations and economies that are growing rapidly, China and India could easily overwhelm agricultural commodity markets. Food import costs for developing countries have almost doubled since 2000. As a result, developing countries and other net food importers remain extremely vulnerable to higher prices.
