Transition tremors making Chinese politics messier

Overview

The Party state that runs China has been preparing since 2007 for the leadership transition due to start at the five-yearly Communist Party Congress that will be held later this year, probably in October. That wide-ranging political transition will see the replacement of six of the nine members of China’s supreme decision-making body, the Standing Committee of the Politburo. It takes place at a time when China is attempting to rebalance the economy away from dependence on investment...
