China 2014 Outlook: Lower but better growth

Overview

We expect China to start to implement the reforms spelled out at the Third Plenum last month at a gradual pace. The reforms will reduce output in the near term; the benefits of reform can be realized only over a longer time. We believe that macroeconomic policies will be tilted towards adjusting the economic structure and controlling risks because growth has stabilized and there is some upward inflationary pressure.
