China takes stock for 2010

As a well-schooled bureaucrat, Hu Jintao looked suitably serious when he delivered the results of the Chinese leadership’s annual economic stock taking on Sunday. But he and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao could have allowed themselves a smile. They have good reason to feel satisfied with the way their policies have worked since they unveiled their fiscal stimulus package 13 months ago and opened the monetary taps.
