Worldwide demand for minerals and coal has enhanced resource-rich Mongolia’s desirability as an investment destination. A favourable - till recently - legal environment and a functioning democratic system have attracted major international mining companies. Neighbouring China and Russia also play important roles as mining investors and, in Russia’s case, as the major energy supplier.
