Somber days for Dilma, but still no smoking gun

Overview

Embattled President Dilma Rousseff and her governing Workers’ Party were granted another temporary reprieve this week, following the sizeable but smaller-than-expected 16 August anti-government street protests – over 880,000 demonstrators turned out. Although this will buy the administration time to strengthen its uneasy truce with an unruly legislature, the latest “pact for governability” will not necessarily make Finance Minister Joaquim Levy’s job of passing his fiscal adjustment...
