Brazil: Ramifications of the Senate President’s court victory
The nation’s highest court (STF) on Wednesday ruled in a decisive 6-3 vote to allow President Michel Temer’s ally Senate President Renan Calheiros to remain in his post until the end of his term on 1 February 2017, even though he is currently a criminal defendant in the first of 12 criminal cases against him.
