Brazil: Political turmoil overshadows legislative victories

Acting President Michel Temer chalked up two small victories in the legislature this week with the confirmation of former Ita├║ Unibanco Chief Economist Ilan Goldfajn as the new Banco Central President and with the passage in the Lower House of a constitutional amendment that allows the government to freely allocate 30 per cent of its revenues from federal taxes until the end of 2023.
