Brazil: Pension reform 2.0

Overview

After two months of debate, the Lower House special committee responsible for pension reform finally released its draft of the new legislation this Wednesday. Amid mounting pressure, the committee has changed key elements of the reform, such as the reduction of the minimum retirement age for women from 65 to 62. In addition, it decided to grant special privileges to both teachers and police officers and to reduce the minimum retirement age for rural workers....
