Overview

After nearly three full weeks in office, the interim Temer administration has got off to an undeniably rocky start. Two ministers have already been forced to resign over the latest developments in Operation Lava Jato (“Car Wash”); and notwithstanding the appointment of a first-rate economic team, the one legislative bill that Temer has managed to pass thus far – setting a new 2016 primary deficit target – has increased rather than reduced public expenditures.
