Brazil: Clouds over pension reform despite electoral court respite

Overview

The Temer administration celebrated an optimal outcome this week at the nation's highest electoral court (TSE) when the court began and then almost immediately suspended its hearing of the cases investigating illicit campaign financing in the 2014 presidential election – for not just one, but two reasons. Notwithstanding the good news, signs of friction within President Temer's allied base have increased, signalling a bitter fight ahead for pension reform....
