For 35 years Brazil has flirted with nuclear power during periods of energy shortage and has then given it the cold shoulder when the crises passed. With concerns about electricity supplies mounting once again, Brazil recently decided to resume construction of the Angra III nuclear power plant. The government also has ambitious plans to build another 10 nuclear plants by 2030.
Although we expect the Angra III plant to be built, it is unlikely that the other plants will be completed...
