The days of irrational exuberance in the Brazilian soy market are over. After three difficult years, producers are more timid about expanding production than they were in the past. Furthermore, many of those farmers who would like to expand production are still heavily indebted and cannot afford to plant more. So the soy price recovery will not prompt a sharp increase in Brazilian production in the current crop year.
