Why Brazil will plant more

Overview

After several difficult years, Brazilian grain and oilseed producers are on target for a profitable harvest in 2010/11. The positive outlook for global food commodities demand, coupled with lower domestic production costs, is creating an environment in which Brazilian farmers are preparing to increase planted area for the 2011/12 crop. The expected increase in Brazilian production of food commodities will come mainly from growth in productivity, however, rather than aggressive...
